The Asean Study Center


The University of Cambodia launches the ASEAN Study Center.  H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron (Minister of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports). Mrs. Kyawt Kyawt Khaing (High Representative of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Kingdom of Cambodia) and H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn (Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Co-Founder, President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Cambodia) have officially launched the center since 8 February 2014. The ASEAN Studies Center (ASC) is the Institute for Research and Advanced Studies division at the University of Cambodia and serves as a policy and academic think rank, conducting research on specific issues related to ASEAN and Asia.

The ASEAN Study Center aims to be a center of excellence focused on ASEAN affairs and Cambodia's integration into ASEAN Economic Community. It has the primary objectives:

1. to promote awareness and understanding of ASEAN within Cambodia, and
2. to promote awareness and understanding of Cambodia amongst other members of ASEAN,

3. to increase the exchange of information, experience and the good practices about the ASEAN community.

Its secondary objective is to provide perspectives, to include inputs from the concerned stakeholders. It also provides feedback and recommendations to the Government and to the ASEAN Secretariat and other member states on the impacts of existing policies and other initiatives.

H.E. Dr. Hang Cbuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports has sent an official endorsement letter to the university in support of the establishment and development of the ASEAN Study Center. The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also voiced their support for the center as well.

Please join ASEAN member state representatives, Embassy representatives, Ministry representatives, dialogues partners, and academics for the greater ASEAN integration and community. The official launch of the ASEAN Study Center was conducted at the University of Cambodia Conference Center on 8 February 2014. Since then, the Center in partnership with the University of Cambodia have organized ASEAN Ambassador Lecture Series, including the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Singapore and other Ambassadors and Distinguished Speakers.
